What Causes Extrinsic Aging?

Extrinsic aging of the skin is caused by external factors, which include ultra-violet radiation, cigarette smoking, air pollution, among others. Extrinsic aging also varies according to where you live. If you live in the mountains where there is less ozone protection, then you will likely have more sun damage than someone at a lower elevation. If you live in a city where there’s more pollution, you’ll be fighting tiny little particles of dirt that become covered with hydrocarbons, which attach to the skin and get into the deeper layers of the skin through the pores. Every environment has its challenges, but you can mitigate the effects of these challenges by having great skincare.

TRANSCRIPT: “Extrinsic aging varies according to where you live. If you live in the mountains, you’re going to have more exposure to ultra violet. There’s less ozone, you get more penetration of the ultra-violet. If you live in the city, there’s tons of soot, like tiny little particles of dirt that become covered with hydrocarbons and they can attach to the skin and even penetrate to deeper layers of the skin through the pores. So every environment has its challenges, and that’s where the skincare comes in because you can really mitigate against the effect of these challenges by having a great skincare.”
